Kindergarten Program
The purpose of the Kindergarten Program is to teach readiness skills that will help children get off to a good start when they begin school.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Reading Curriculum - Zoo Phonics: has a multi-sensory approach for emergent readers. This program uses movement, songs and whole group activities to introduce children to letters and their songs using a highly successful kinesthetic approach.
* Math Curriculum - Harcourt Brace: state adopted curriculum which uses many hands-on activities to help the children develop a strong foundation of numbers, one-to-one correspondence, patterning and relationships of value.
* Math & Language Arts, Reading, Handwriting & Comprehension Skills: allotted time for each area is spent in group lessons and other activities.

What Parents Can Do!
Teaching these skills does not require a rigid schedule or large blocks of time. In fact, readiness skills are best taught in small doses, with repetition over time - without pressure for you or your child.
No child needs to acquire every skill before entering Kindergarten. Children develop at different rates...some learn particular skills earlier, some later. The goal is not to speed up development, but to ensure that each child has the best possible opportunities to learn and grow at each level of development.
A good place to begin is with the day-to-day encouragement of family. Families can reinforce skills, such as clapping hands, looking at books, or recognizing common objects or sounds.
There does seem to be a lot for a small child to absorb! But the parents we've met are eager to help and the children are eager to learn. Thank you, parents, for your help and support in this very important first step of your child's education.
