Sonoma Charter School is a public K-8 school in the Sonoma Valley Unified School District, located at 17202 Sonoma Highway in Sonoma, CA. The mission of Sonoma Charter School is Academic Excellence Through Engaged Learning. We are a Montessori-based school with an emphasis on high expectations both academically and behaviorally.
The objective of the Sonoma Charter School (SCS) is to provide continually improved learning for all students. With the freedom to discover the most successful learning style of each student, and to personalize a developmental curriculum that best meets student needs, the educational experience is both engaging and challenging. This is an opportunity for Sonoma Valley residents to collaborate with a public school that is a model for public education. We believe that students can realize the potential of their unique aptitudes and talents when they perceive that parents and teachers have high expectations of them.
Academic excellence provides clear and challenging standards enabling each student to:
Grow in learning
Become an effective, functioning, responsible person
Realize personal goals and potential
Meet or exceed SCS and state standards
Included in our Academic Philosophy is our school motto:
Truth:
We seek to learn what is true, say what is true, do what is true
Growth: We strive every day to grow in knowledge, understanding, character
Respect: We show respect for the person, ideas, property of others. These aspects of personal character are an important part of our school culture and are referenced by students, staff, and parents as a code of conduct.
