Elm ~Pine Street School is an elementary school serving approximately 800 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our staff and students are committed to "rising to greatness" as students, teachers, and as human beings. Our staff is committed to helping our students get ready to be positive, productive community and world citizens. We meet as professional learning communities to use data to drive instruction and we focus on individual student learning and progress.
Our school is nestled at the base of the Eastern Sierra in a spectacular setting. We offer a dual language immersion program K-5. Art and music are respected as imperative to a well-educated and civilized society and we are committed to offering these fine arts K-5. Fifth grade students may choose to begin instrumental band instruction. Students may participate in History Day, Science Fair, and a myriad of other educational and cultural activities. Many of our staff and students participate in Playhouse 395, a community theater project. We celebrate reading through Read Across America/Read Across Bishop activities, and beginning in 2009-2010, we will participate in Battle of the Books. We believe celebration of talents and character should be a daily occurrence, and we work diligently to make this a creative, wholesome, wonderful place to be.
