Our Mission Statement
In the spirit of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School partners with school families, parish, and extended communities to create an atmosphere rooted in gospel values that fosters:

* Our Catholic identity

* Respect and acceptance

* Excellence in learning

* Service to others

Our Statement of School Philosophy
Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is a community founded upon the traditions and charisms of the religious orders of the Roman Catholic faith. Our school strives to complement the parents' role as primary educators of their children as prescribed in the documents of Vatican Council II. Therefore, we commit ourselves to further the faith and education each child receives at home. We will provide learning opportunities and challenges that address the spiritual, intellectual, psychological, social, and physical development of our students. We establish these goals and objectives to guide our commitment of providing a balanced curriculum in an atmosphere that honors the dignity of every member of our school community.

Who we are
Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is a Catholic day school associated with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Education Association. The program is coeducational covering Kindergarten through Eighth grade. Class size is limited to a maximum of thirty students per grade.

Curriculum and Programs
The curriculum is a strong student-centered program aligned with State Standards and Archdiocesan Guidelines. Vibrant music, fine arts programs and a strong technology center enhance the academic curriculum. The teaching and integration of the Catholic faith and Christian values is at the core of the curriculum. An extensive Christian Service program is offered in age appropriate levels. There are various extracurricular activities offered, including a year-round sports program and an active Student Council program. Extended Day care is available after regular school hours.

Learning is celebrated and honored throughout the school year. Open House highlights the arts and the academic achievements of the students. The Science Fair and spelling and geography bees challenge the competitive spirit of the students. Seasonal choral presentations are a trademark, with student choirs lending their talents to the sponsoring parishes and the community at large. The school encourages all students to participate in community-sponsored contests and events.

Parent Involvement
Parent and family involvement contribute to the intimate atmosphere and overall success of the school activities. The Parent Guild provides leadership for these activities and oversees traditional fundraisers that enrich the curricular and co-curricular programs at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School.

Our School Day
The school day begins with a morning assembly with the entire student body, faculty and staff in attendance. This morning ritual develops and reinforces the school community. In addition weekly assemblies feature class presentations on a variety of subjects, including reports on class field trips where students share their experiences with the entire school. Through these special events, students develop social and public speaking skills and strengthen their individual self-esteem. Above all, these events nurture respect for the gifts and talents of everyone.

Faculty and Staff
We have a core of dedicated teachers with many years experience in both academics and religious teaching. All teachers hold valid Teaching Credentials. They welcome parent interaction for the benefit of the students and are always willing to hear from you by phone, written notes, and especially in person. A list of our faculty and staff can be viewed here.
