End of the Year Letter
Every year when writing my end of the year letter, I find myself reflecting on how fortunate I am to work with the Mira Monte school staff, students, and parents. As challenging as this job can be at times, I do truly enjoy the career I chose. Of course, having a staff of exceptional professionals, supportive and appreciative parents, and students who are well-behaved and eager to learn might have something do to with my happiness.
Once again the Mira Monte staff has worked hard to provide an excellent educational program. Their expectations are high and the students rise to the occasion. Teachers make learning fun while maintaining a respectful school climate both inside and outside the classroom. I am especially proud of our staff for not allowing the cuts to educational funding to dampen the enthusiasm they have for their profession.
Thank you, parents for supporting the programs at our school. Not only do you reinforce the academics and social development of your children at home, you show the school staff support with your caring, encouraging comments and actions. Thank you too, for the financial support you have provided us during these challenging times. We continue to be inspired by your generosity in all areas.
I would like to thank our PTO board members (Karen Oswald, Natalie Williams, Diana Holder, Lisa Duarte, Jooley Pena) for their untiring efforts on behalf of our Mira Monte School community. Additionally, I’d like to once again thank Lilia Andersen for all her hard work coordinating this yearbook.
Class of 2009,
Wow! What a really nice group of students. I mean REALLY nice. Rarely did I see a 6th grader in the office for any type of discipline. When on the rare occasion a 6th grader did end up in the office, you’d hear our 6th grade teachers saying, “Wow, I guess they really are kids.†Our 6th grade leadership students went above and beyond their leadership responsibilities. The Matilija staff is going to love these kids.
As the year comes to an end, along with the state and nation, our school board and district administration are facing significant financial challenges. We will keep our chins up and continue moving forward. With positive attitudes and a caring school community, we’ll make it through the tough times.
Goodbye 6th graders and the families that will be leaving us this year! We’ll see the rest of you in August.
