Message from Gil Steele, Principal
I have been privileged to be a teacher at this school for more than 30 years. It has enabled me to be part of a highly qualified staff, work closely with many dedicated members of our community that served on our Board of Education, develop positive, personal relationships with the citizens and parents of McCloud, and last but not least, serve the students that have passed through our school.

This has helped me realize that we are really members of one very large family. We all have a responsibility to work together to provide the best educational experience for our young people. Teachers, alone, cannot accomplish this, they need and welcome the help of the other members of this "family". We must work together to accomplish this very important goal.

A poem given to me by one of my former students describes teachers and parents as two sculptors and the clay they are molding is a young child's mind. They used books, guiding hands, and gentle loving hearts. The last stanza of the poem reads:

"And each agreed they
would have failed

if they had worked alone

for behind the parent

stood the school,

and behind the teacher

stood the home."
