Curriculum
Audubon’s curriculum and instructional practices are aligned with State and national recommendations for quality schools and with the District’s Standards of Excellence. The school’s curriculum is developmentally appropriate for each child. The school’s curriculum has an emphasis on hands-on, activity-based instruction with the use of manipulatives in math and science. Audubon has a balanced instructional program in reading that includes phonics and skills instruction as well as analysis of quality literature. There is also an emphasis on project-oriented, integrated units in social studies and science.
Audubon is very proud of the ongoing support and involvement of its parents. The dedicated efforts and the commitment of Audubon’s PTA, School Site Council and team of volunteers result in valuable and vital support to the school. Parents consistently have the opportunity to be involved in their children’s education through: (1) parent education programs; (2) classroom and school volunteering; (3) parent conferences; (4) a school newsletter; (5) serving on school and District committees; and (6) completing a parent survey initiated by the School Site Council to gather feedback about the effectiveness of the Audubon School program
